Itadaki Street 2: Neon Sign wa Bara Iro ni is a Monopoly-like board game with a variety of boards and play mechanics unique to the series.
The series has largely stayed in Japan with only a couple iterations officially released in English speaking regions. Many fan translations have come out for various Japanese only games, but none so far that I know have translated this second game for the Super Famicom into English. Until now.
See this super helpful guide on Vizzed on what game critical texts translate to if you prefer to play the unmodified Japanese version. Also big thanks to this GitHub project from XKeeper0 that is a wealth of translation information for this game. I am sure their research was used in this project.
Full disclosure, this is a vibe-coded project. I don’t love that it is, but I wouldn’t have been able to produce this translation patch otherwise.
What This Patch Does

This patch is just a translation, it does not change any of the gameplay or balancing of the game. Right now everything needed to play through the game is translated into English. This includes menus, cards, and the tutorial. Character bios, over 200 lines of dialogue from the characters, and many other random bits of text have also been translated.
There is still a lot of dialogue that needs to be translated as well as other random text strings that don’t affect gameplay. Some small alignment and formatting issues are present and I’m sure there are some bugs to work out. I haven’t encountered any crashing or game breaking bugs in my 6 hours of playing the most recent version.

message shortened to fit its window. - Preserved live player names, amounts, share counts, card numbers, and percentages.
- Replaced eight Japanese up/down glyph operands with + or – and reordered two
percentage concatenation lists. No gameplay arithmetic or branches were changed. - Fixed clipping in chance-card captions, the fire effect, and trade-menu labels.
- Added safeguards against small-font punctuation slots that are not English glyphs.
The patch is cumulative and requires the original Japanese ROM. The translations
remain in the original text bank; the six relocations from 0.1 still use 234 bytes.
No ROM expansion, font replacement, or new small-text relocation was required.
Other Stuff
I want to give a big thanks to people who have worked on translation this game before I got here. ChatGpt almost undoubtedly used their work to create this.
