Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti
This is an NES “port” of Splatterhouse. Lots of liberties were taken and it’s basically unrecognizable from the Arcade original. It’s pretty good though, not as stiff as other Splatterhouse games although that adds it’s own difficulty. Plenty of nods to classic Horror movies and franchises which are fun to recognize. This playthrough gets both […]
Castlevania: The Red Wizard
Castlevania: The Red Wizard is a Castlevania rom hack that focuses on difficulty. Were you ever playing Castlevania and wished all the enemies were hopped up on Red Bulls and cocaine? Well this rom hack is for you! All of the enemies’ speed have been jacked to the point of absurdity which is where the […]
Splatterhouse 2
Alright kicking off the spooooky Halloween month of October is the very appropriate Splatterhouse 2 for the Sega Genesis. This game is kinda stiff, pretty short, but overall a fun experience. It’s very gory and I love all the boss designs.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The newest Zelda game is a remake of a Capcom developed Gameboy Color game. This is excellenct, except for all the fram dipping.
Super Mario Brothers 3 – Japanese Version
This is the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 3. There are some differences between this and the American English version, besides just the language of the text. Screen transitions going into the levels are different and slower and when you get hit you revert back to small Mario with a nice animation of the […]
Space Harrier
Space Harrier is a fun and fast pseudo 3d font-on shooter. This is the Sega Genesis 32x port. This one gets really fast and I found myself on the edge of my seat as I was dodging all the stuff flying at me. I can’t imagine what it’s like on the hardest difficulty.
Time Gal
Time Gal is an interesting fmv game in which the gameplay is entirely made up of quick time events. While that isn’t particularly fun, the anime animation is pretty cool, albeit choppy. I’m sure the animation is better in the original arcade version. You play as Time Gal who must warp through time and space […]
Kung FU
This is the NES port of the popular 80’s arcade game Kung Fu Master. This game was originally going to be about Bruce Lee, but later was changed to be starring Jackie Chan as a tie in to his move Spartan X, and if I hadn’t looked that up I would have never guessed it.
The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening
In anticipation of the newly remade version of this game, I thought I’d go way back to the original. Link’s Awakening is, for the Game Boy, an epic journey, and an all-around fantastic game. Join Link as he washes ashore on the mysterious Koholint island where he must collect all the instruments and wake the […]
Back to the Future
Hey, you remember that extreme sports movie, Back to the Future? You know, the one where titular character Mary McFly does extreme skateboard bowling as he maneuvers down the bizarley laid out streets of Hill Valley, knocking down bowling pins and the insane inhabitants of Hill Valley as they try and stop him at any […]
MTV’s Remote Control
MTV’s Remote Control was a late 80’s game show that was, surprise, on MTV. It’s weird to see anything MTV on the Nintendo. My favorite part of the game is whenany of the characters emote something with their faces, really hard to tell what they’re feeling.
Bomberman 64 – Regular Ending
Bomberman 64 has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. This is a really fun game that I’ve wanted to get on the channel for a while now. This is not a playthrough with the real ending. If you collect 100 of the gold slips throughout the game a new area opens up and […]
